GEADI: Arte Pop / Historia

"Es un movimiento que se produce en la misma época en Gran Bretaña y en Estados Unidos de manera independiente y sin apenas influencias mutuas. El pop inglés nace entre 1952 y 1955 en la reuniones del Independent Group (Paolozzi, Hamilton y L. Alloway, entre otros) en el Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) de Londres. Todos sus componentes afirman su interés por la cultura urbana producida en masa: películas, ciencia ficción, música pop y el mundo de la imagen. Este grupo de artistas termina por aplicar esta cultura, denominada "pop" por Alloway, a un nuevo tipo de arte figurativo que surgió de dicho interés y lo muestran por primera vez en 1956 en la exposición "This is tomorrow" en la Whitechapel Art Gallery de Londres."

Go to Blog » The gambling website PaddyPower.com placed odds today on what species would be first to become extinct as a result of crude belching from BP PLC's ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico. Odds are the Kemp's ridley turtle, and endangered species that migrates to the Gulf this time of year, would go first. A $5 bet on the turtle would win $9 if it's listed as extinct at any time because of the spill. Less likely species -- the gulf sturgeon, smalltooth sawfish and elkhorn coral -- have payout rates of 20-to-1. In a statement announcing the extinction pool, the Irish bookmaker said it hoped the betting would "highlight the environmental catastrophe" and the "sure bet" that it would lead to the loss of some marine species. "We kind of have a very simple philosophy at Paddy Power -- within reason if there is a very newsworthy event that are people are talking about, people should be allowed to back up their opinion with some cash," said Ken Robertson, a company spokesman. The website is also taking bets on who will be the next CEO of BP, the company responsible for the spill. It also took bets on when the Icelandic volcano would stop erupting, and offers gambling on when the Large Hadron Collider will reach full power and what it will discover first: black power or dark energy. Odds on the collider discovering God? 100-to-1. In the first six hours of betting on the species extinctions, there were more than 50 bets placed, Robertson said. Other online gambling sites have taken bets on the spill. Earlier this month, sports gambling site Bookmaker.com took bets on how successful or unsuccessful BP's massive concrete dome would be at gathering the oil. Their bookies put odds on the dome's collecting 80 percent of the spill (Greenwire, May 7). The mercenary take on the disaster comes as crude continues to flow and begins to creep into Louisiana's coastal marshes. Oil has pushed at least 12 miles into the wetlands and coated two major pelican rookeries, according to news reports. Oil in marshes and wetlands is what local officials and scientists have long feared, saying it could place severe stresses on wildlife and harm marine nurseries and breeding grounds. "Once it gets into the marshes, it will be very difficult to get rid of," National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chief Jane Lubchenco told reporters last week. Crononauta Hikikomori: Infamias hacia el arte No estudié la licenciatura en arte, tampoco me siento un gran crítico del mismo. Simplemente me considero un fanático del mismo, no me imagino mi vida sin música, sin cine, sin literatura, tampoco la vida humana en general sin grandes como Dalí, Basquiat, Warhol y más. Yo concibo al arte como un medio para expresar emociones, algo muy simple pero con un sentido tan visceral del cual a lo mejor nunca entenderemos la existencia, la vida misma pero al menos este la hace más soportable. Por esto me molesta cuando fantoches que algunas veces tal vez tengan estudios que si fundamenten sus conocimientos sobre arte –que no es así- , hablen tantas estupideces y de manera pretenciosa e insulsa se refieren al arte. Por ello hago este artículo con aspectos generales y particulares sobre infamias hacia el arte. 1 La primera infamia que voy a mencionar es sobre autoridades culturales del estado de Zacatecas. Me toco vivir intolerancia hacia el rock, mas especifico hacia el metal. Hace ya algunos años mientras empezaba mi carrera quería introducir un programa de rock al estacón de radio (pseudo) cultural del Estado. La gente a cargo de esta estación creen que el arte como tanto la cultura, es escuchar música clásica y todo lo que se enfoca en las bellas artes, desechando por completo cualquier tipo diferente de expresión artística. Su idea del arte cae en juicios de valor, denominando como arte a todo aquello que lo conlleva al buen gusto. 2 Partiendo de corrientes como el abstraccionismo o el surrealismo, me caga la gente pretenciosa que cree hallarle un significado o entender las obras y esto siempre explicándolas. Un ejemplo más descriptivo, recuerdo oír gente hablar sobre una escena en particular de los olvidados, en esta el protagonista estaba en un sueño donde salía una gallina volando y su mamá ofreciéndole carne cruda sueño truncado por la aparición del Jaibo. De esta escena escuche interpretaciones tan absurdas y fuera de contexto como que la gallina representaba la bisexualidad. Más tarde encontré una entrevista donde a Buñuel le preguntaban el significado de la gallina, y el solo reía y decía que simplemente le gustaba como se veía. Algo similar pasa con las películas de Alejandro Jodorowsky a quien le dan varias interpretaciones absurdas sobre el Tarot usado en sus películas, y el también afirma haberlo puesto sin ningún significado en especial. 3 Parte de mi trabajo implica estar en eventos que tratan sobre ciencias como física, biología, química o bien ingenierías como en computación o de la tierra. Por lo general hay momentos de emotividad debido a que los eventos pueden implicar premios, reconocimientos o bien convenios. Dicha emotividad lleva como cliché a los científicos, ingenieros o médicos a nombrar su labor un arte, entiendo el amor que le pueden tener a su trabajo, ¿pero porque denominarle arte a la ciencia? La verdad es algo que me molesta mucho, el arte no es una ciencia, es como si un pintor dijera que su obra...
